We’re not quite in full swing of things in regards to Halloween Horror Nights houses getting announced which comes at Midsummer Scream 2024. However, we did get some news about a new house coming to Universal Studios Hollywood, which is Dead Exposure: Death Valley. Here’s a description of the new original house.

A secret lab’s attempts to create super soldiers takes a turn for the worse, creating radioactive zombies who escape just as you arrive!

Dead Exposure: Death Valley is the second house announced for Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, the other, A Quiet Place, was announced last week.

Here are some insights on the house from Creative Director Of Horror Nights, John Murdy.

Aside from the obvious connection to the Orlando HHN houses, this house is trying to tap into the “existential fears” of our times (as the genre of horror has always done), namely all the online theories on secret military labs & the speculation on what takes place inside…

While I did a lot of research on real facilities…the setting in Death Valley is fictional. I figured if you’re gonna build a secret facility in order to conduct top secret experiments…build it in one of the most inhospitable places on Earth!

As for radiation contamination…that’s kinda drawn from real life experience. I was an exchange student in Europe in college in 1986 and was actually in the Soviet Union during the Cold War, shortly after the Chernobyl accident. Crazy but true!

As for the facade, that big opening isn’t the entrance to the house…something has crashed through the front of it (which you’ll view from outside and inside the house). It will continue to evolve in the coming weeks as details get added. So there’s some tasty tidbits for you.

Horror fans will get even more Horror Nights on both coasts this year with Universal Studios Orlando’s Horror Nights opening on August 30th. The Hollywood Horror Nights opens on September 5th and runs until November 3rd.
