We might be entering a new golden age of scary movie novelizations. Those old-style novels add a bit more than you’d expect to your favorite movies. Now, A24 has announced that TI West and Mia Goth’s X Trilogy is getting a series of three novelizations. The novels come from Bram Stoker award-winning writer Tim Waggoner. The first novelization in the series, X, comes out on September 24th, 2024.
Pearl arrives November 19th, 2024 and MaXXXine releases in early 2025. The plot for the first film/novel X, goes like this.
“A group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas. But when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.”
A24 promises new details for a pulpy vision from author Tim Waggoner that are pulled straight from the original screenplay. These new novelizations have retro-inspired covers and are pretty pocketable. If you’ve ever had movie novelizations from the ’80s and ’90s, these fit right in.
